Accessibility statement

Using this site

Kanati LMS wants as many people as possible to be able to use this site. You should be able to:

  • use every part of it with a keyboard alone, with focus clearly shown;
  • use it with a screen reader, such as VoiceOver, NVDA or JAWS;
  • zoom in without text spilling off the screen, and use it on a phone or tablet (every page is checked down to phone width);
  • choose light or dark mode, or match your device, from the menu;
  • make text larger and turn off movement, under Accessibility settings in your account menu.

How accessible this site is

The site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

We know some parts may not fully meet the standard:

  • Courses made in outside authoring tools and loaded as SCORM packages are only as accessible as the tool that made them. The site checks that each package runs, but cannot check what is inside it.
  • Documents, images and videos that Kanati LMS adds are only as accessible as they are made. The site asks for a description of a course's images and points out videos without captions before a course is published.
  • The site has been tested automatically and by its builders, but not yet by people who use assistive technology every day. Until it has, we describe it as partially meeting the standard.

How we test it

Every change to the site is checked before it goes live:

  • pages are checked against WCAG 2.2 AA in light and dark mode by an automatic tool (axe) as part of each change's tests;
  • every page is checked at five screen sizes, from a phone to a wide desktop, for text that is cut off, controls that overlap and targets that are too small;
  • the menu, building courses and commenting in reviews are also tested with the keyboard alone.

An independent check by people who use assistive technology is planned.
