How Kanati LMS uses AI
In short
- AI is optional and switched off unless Kanati LMS turns it on. The site works fully without it.
- When it is on, the site uses Claude, made by Anthropic, through Kanati LMS's own Anthropic account.
- AI never changes anything by itself. It suggests changes, a person checks them in a preview and saves them, and every change can be undone.
- AI never decides anything about a learner: not results, certificates, completion or exam integrity.
- Anthropic does not use what the site sends it to train its models.
What AI does on this site
Administrators can ask for things in plain English, such as "put these twelve people in the Tiles Group" or "make Fire Safety due 30 days after enrolment". Claude works out the changes and the site shows them in the same "Check before saving" preview as a change made by hand. Nothing changes until the administrator saves. Each change appears in Change history, where it can be undone, and in the audit log, which records that AI proposed it and who approved it.
AI can only do what the person using it is allowed to do. Someone who cannot change settings cannot ask AI to change them.
AI is not used to mark exams, issue certificates, judge whether someone has completed a course, or check exam integrity. Those are worked out by fixed rules that anyone can read in the site's documentation.
What is sent to Anthropic
Only what a request needs: the request itself, and the parts of the site's content and settings that answer it, limited to what the person asking may see. Personal or sensitive profile fields are never sent. Passwords do not exist on the site, and the site's keys and secrets are never sent.
What Anthropic does with it
These points come from Anthropic's own published terms (checked 8 November 2026). Kanati LMS should check them against its own contract with Anthropic.
- Training: Anthropic's Commercial Terms say Anthropic "may not train models on Customer Content from Services" (section B). What the site sends and receives counts as Customer Content.
- Keeping: Anthropic deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days by default. Content flagged under its Usage Policy may be kept for up to 2 years. Kanati LMS can ask Anthropic for zero data retention, under which prompts and responses are not stored after each reply.
- Where: requests are processed in the United States or wherever Anthropic runs its service. Anthropic does not currently offer storage in the UK or the EU. Transfers are covered by Anthropic's Data Processing Addendum. Customers in the UK and the European Economic Area contract with Anthropic Ireland, Limited.
Turning AI off
An administrator with permission to change settings can turn AI off on the AI page under Settings. The site carries on working exactly as before, and the key can be removed from the same page.
